Keep On Learning - DDD is tomorrow

I am a teacher by heart. We all have gone through our school years. I don't believe learning stopped when school is over. Whether we take community ed classes, read, make use of resources through the library and internet, attend lectures or even travel we have opportunities to keep on learning. Music instruments are great tools for using our brain and body in new ways - and it all can sound nice, too. I enjoy the aspect of keeping traditions going - whether tunes, instruments, dance, stories, singing, crafts - traditions that we carry forward.
A part of it all is to take part. Not that people can't listen to music, buy crafts, and watch a dance performance but it can be joyful to BE the music player, dancer, craft maker, too. Keep exploring. Dulcimer Day has 7 classes that are just for beginners to try out music or the activity - Origami, shapenote singing, mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, tin whistle, banjo, and clogging.
I do want to put a plug in for the local artists/crafters who will be coming at Dulcimer Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You will find pottery, soap, decorated wine glasses, jewelry, feather items plus a few instrument vendors with plenty of instruction books and music accessories. Come to a concert and bring a friend. You'll hear some fine and dandy old-time music and a blend of sweet music.
