Buy 2 books and get a 3rd one free (lowest priced one) - only in stock books. It's always a good time to keep learning. Order 2 and then put the 3rd in the note section or just email me. This offer is good through the end of August. Maybe you'd want 2 dulcimer books and a banjo book. Or, order multiples of a book so you and a friend can play hymns, holiday tunes, or Celtic music together.
My summer goal of producing a dulcimer tab book hasn't happen yet. There is some more time to summer but it is wrapping up quickly. Our lows are already dipping into the 40s.
I'm heading to a Carving Festival this weekend. Wood is pretty special material and I enjoying see what can be made from it as well as hearing what can be made from it (instruments). I'll be playing with wooden spools, logs and bark to make faces and whimsical houses. I have my knife packed and am ready to dig in.
My garden is growing and growing. The tomatillos look quite cute with their hanging latern-like husks. I will make salsa with those and the tomatoes and onions. A squash or pumpkin type plant has gone beyond the raised bed, cross a gap of about 10 feet and is now heading up the stairs to our deck. We'll see if it makes it to the back door. Almost all day long hummingbirds slurp away on the feeders. They have quite a squeaky and buzz sound and zip around so quickly.
My new project is a newsletter for my neighborhood. It now has its own website www.LookAtLakeside.com. I'm still trying to get it known in the neighborhood. I think it will be fun to put in different stories of history and current people and places. I've lived in Lakeside 11 years now and had an outdoor wedding (in pouring rain) along Amity Creek in Lester Park. It was a nice place to be surrounded by tall trees.
Enjoy your neighbors and your neighboring trees. Can you identify trees in your area? As I get more into carving I'm learning the better woods to carve. There always is buying basswood as the store, too. I've done the ball in a cage carving in a carrot, too and yes, the apple head granny face. It's better to do those in the winter when the air is more dry.
