Walking Step by Step

Even though we've had the foggy, cloudy days hanging around a bit too long, it hasn't stopped my new personal challenge of getting out walking two miles a day. Right in the neighborhood is fine or to hit a local trail in Duluth. The walk is a stretch, a small 'vacation', a passage, a time for nature and to just get out. Most often there are others out walking, especially out walking their dogs. Step by step freeing up the mind and working the body a bit. Really, learning to play the dulcimer and getting into playing is step by step and a bit of a workout - well, at least a finger workout. I did meet a fellow once who had half his lung removed and strumming his dulcimer was about all the physical activity he could do and also only for a minimal time. I invite you to step our your home and go for a walk. Head around the block, head to a restaurant or the grocery store. There's is so much more we can see at a walking pace than by car. The health benefits are there too. I'd have to say, too that with playing the dulcimer we can create melodies that can ring in some good spirit. Raise your spirit with a walk or with a tune.
