More snow - DDD is getting closer

It's been a crazy and white April. We've had about 14 inches of snow between the storm on Thurs/Fri and then the one last night. Meanwhile, the greenhouses are working at setting up as early May is the usual opening of the greenhouses, opening of the farmers markets and yes, it's Dulcimer Day on the first Saturday of May. I wish I could order blue sky and a pleasant day. The view from the Coppertop Church where Dulcimer Day is held is fantastic - as long as there isn't fog blocking Lake Superior. There were 6 ships stuck outside of the harbor in Duluth over the weekend as more ice had formed and moved and blocked the ships getting in. I took a photo of two ice cutters out working to breakup the ice - again. This storm should all pass soon and 40 degree temperatures are on the way. The high winds also brought waves which brought out the surfers. There are all kinds of activities to do in Duluth area no matter what the weather is. I value the music and arts experience up here (or down here for the Thunder Bay and North Shore folks). We went up to Silver Bay on Saturday night for their community theater's production of Death of a Salesman. We were swept into the mixed up life of the salesman and his family. The performers received a standing ovation. I hope that the Dulcimer Day concerts will be one of the highlights of the day for you. There will be an assortment of instruments again this year as you can see from the schedule. Dulcimer Day is about dulcimers and more - some instruments go so well together just as Duluth goes well with Lake Superior right here. Thanks for the those who have signed up for DDD already. Thanks to the sponsors too who help support the festival. We head to Grandma's restaurant in Canal Park the night before the fest and Grandma's generously donates some gift certificates to help feed the performers. Good food, good people, good music. Come on to Dulcimer Day and enjoy Duluth. It's very nice to see returnees to this fair with some people having attended for 10 years or more. It's also great to see the registrations come in for new people. It's coming in just over two weeks. Make your dinner and workshop reservations ahead of time, please.
