It was a full day of dulcimers on Saturday. Nice to see returning participants and new people. I know I enjoyed the concerts with Gary Sager, Rick Thum, Debbie Peters, and Dick Kimmel as the main guest this year. Great music!
Thanks to all the helpers at the event from registration/arrival time until post-concert. Dulcimers are delightful instruments and a day celebrating them is a fine thing to do. I'm almost caught up getting back to non-Dulcimer Day activities as a wrap for the year. I was looking at how many guest musicians have been involved in Dulcimer Day over the years. Not counting 2nd and 3rd visits of the same guests (like Karen Mueller or Rick Thum) there have been 49 unique musicians being part of teaching and performing.
It's fun to see people come as clubs such as the Thunder Bay Lakehead Dulcimer Circle and the club members from New Auburn, WI. I'll be taking a break from Dulcimer Day planning for a couple months but then on to next year. If you have any suggestions on new people to bring to Duluth to teach and perform let me know. A key about Dulcimer Day is that is includes plenty of learning opportunities. (myself included as I plan meals for 50+ people).
I thought more people would have taken part of the herbal class as I like to add 'make it' type classes each year. I'll be using my Dulcimer Day mug on these chilly nights as spring doesn't feel like it's here. The mugs were made locally and yes, they can be microwaved.
Photos are coming.
