Water

Duluth needs some rain. The sunny, mild days have been wonderful but it's spring and the life waiting to come out wants a drink. I planted some cosmos seeds, kale, and sunflower seeds yesterday and with a watering today should be on their way to germinate and create good healthy treats. I'd also like to get some mint plants to grow as I had a mint water drink at Get Started event, which has an assortment of booths on making cheese, raising chickens, preserving food and growing a community garden. It was called a tea but rather just water. I do like drinking water but the little flavor tasted great.
If we really sit down to think about it water is just about everywhere. In us, our blood, tissues, and even in the woods that make up our dulcimers. You don't have to see it directly but it's there. I organize Duluth area local art/gift fairs. I love to work with the artists and create a local shopping experience for people where they can meet the people who made the creations. I've added another fair to the five I organized already (in addition to the Dulcimer Day festival). The new one is in honor of Lake Superior and I'm calling it Love Lake Superior Artisan and Info Fair. The 3rd Sunday in July is Lake Superior Day and communities around the lake have events and special activities. wendyupnorth.com has the Duluth fair listing and lists the fairs. Most people admit there is something really special about the giant Great lake. The body of water touches us inside. Some of us will jump right in sometime even though it's rarely about 50 degrees or we will splash our toes in it along the sandy beach of Park Point. Even in the winter, the frozen piles on the lakeshore are interesting and take on a bluish cast. Water. We need it. It's a part of us. I love the smell of the earth after a rain. The role of water to our health and planet health is vast. We even breath water in with humidity and breath it out. It continuously cycles and is on its way to a new stopping point all the time.
